Warm is finally here.
Though it’s technically still spring, this is what feels to me like the first days of SUMMER. (Yeah, yeah, I know that official date doesn’t actually come til late June—it’s my birthday … But still it feels like it.) And it makes me happy to be living in the South. Missing friends in Chicago, and the impeding thaw even makes me miss the city, but HERE there is so much space and air between all the pixels the brain has to take in. Perfect space.
Swimming will be in order soon and hopefully a lot of bike rides, art projects and shows at the Pilot Light. Days are spent working from home or at Java in the old city—once in a blue moon, from Knoxville’s new record, vintage, gear shop Hot Horse (where compadres help with the designer’s block). My groundsmate has built an amazing fire pit + started a garden. There’s been some minimal dirt-clod breakin’ up on my part. I’ve also tried watering the wildflower window boxes with my coffee grounds. Every little bit helps?
May summer start its spread in your town soon.
